Please make du’a for my grandmother, she passed away this morning after being bedridden for over a year or two from two strokes. Alhamdulillah it is bittersweet to know she passed away in the greatest month possible, which makes me very happy. Keep her in your prayers and ask that she be forgiven and granted Jannah, I’d greatly appreciate it. Innalillahi wa inna illayhi...

Fairy Tales
One of my good friends, may Allah grant her Jannah, posed an interesting question that I took a second look at recently. She asked if it was wrong to want a fairy tale, or in the bigger sense, have a “perfect life.” It got me thinking, which is actually very rare for me nowadays to ponder over such a thing, but reading some of the opinions people had and seeing both sides of the coin...

“When we fought the Cylons, we did it to save ourselves from extinction. But we never answered the question, why? Why are we as a people worth saving? We still commit murder because of greed, spite, jealousy. We still visit all of our sins upon our children. We refuse to accept the responsibility for anything that we’ve done. Like we did with the Cylons. We decided to play God, create...

Passacaglia
In ways we are all like the strings of a violin, awaiting moments in which we will be forced to feel the vivid strike of a bow that that gives us life. The bow may strike at us in limitless ways, with countless possibilities, each resulting in our own unique rhythm, our own harmony. This harmony resonates through vibrations which coarse the air, sailing majestically into the river of countless...

“Why do you read so much?”  Tyrion looked up at the sound of the voice. Jon Snow was standing a few feet away, regarding him curiously. He closed the book on a finger and said, “Look at me and tell me what you see.” The boy looked at him suspiciously. “Is this some kind of trick? I see you. Tyrion Lannister.” Tyrion sighed. “You are remarkably polite for a bastard, Snow. What you see is a...

Someone To Watch Over Me
Those who have knowledge about Allah agree that when you get to the point of losing all hope, it means that Allah has entrusted you to your own affairs, and when you have trust and hope in Allah, it means that Allah has guided you to goodness. Allah’s slaves are always swaying from the first state to the second. During the period of a single hour, one can have his share of both. So he obeys...

Sometimes A Great Notion
When we are born, the adhaan is given, but there is no salat. When the angel of death comes to claim our soul, salat is prayed upon us, yet no adhaan is given. Such an equine thought, an absolute symbolism. The adhaan given at the time of each of our births is the adhaan for the salat prayed at the time of our death. A magnificent representation of how short this life truly is, the time between...

megrobertson: We’ve got a real problem…this is a mathematical fact. Tens of trillions of dollars are being extracted from the United States of America.  Democrats aren’t fixing it, Republicans aren’t stopping it — an entire integrated system, banking, trade and taxation, created by both parties over a period of two decades is at work decimating our entire country right now. MSNBC’s Dylan...

Effects of Ramadan
While I’ve always made it a point to write this every Ramadan, I almost feel it is a necessity because of the fact that people seem to not understand the impact or depth of the message. During Ramadan, the shayateen have all been locked up and we are free from the whispers of their evil. This is what makes Ramadan the greatest time of all to do something you have wanted to do, but never had...

“A vigilante is just a man, lost in the scramble for his own gratification. He can be destroyed, conquered, ridiculed, locked up. He has no sense for the world around him, only a selfish agenda which plagues his mind, wasting away with passage of time.” “But, if you can make yourself more than just a man, more than flesh and blood. If you devote yourself to an ideal, a vision, a...

Words of Wisdom
Bruce had me up to three miles a day, really at a good pace. We’d run the three miles in twenty-one or twenty-two minutes. Just under eight minutes a mile. So this morning he said to me, ‘We’re going to go five.’ I said, ‘Bruce, I can’t go five. I’m a hell of a lot older than you are, and I can’t do five.’ He said, ‘When we get to three...

“The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window, or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work, when you go to church, when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.” - The Matrix

“I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who have ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. An entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don’t need. We’re the middle children of history. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No...

Calm Before The Storm
Politics goes beyond what you simply see on television or the news. There is a lot of psychological warfare going on in this country right now, not that it hasn’t been since 9/11. Turn on any mainstream media outlet and you will see it, how words are manipulated into feeding onto your fears, your emotions, how they play the same emotional and grief-stricken clips over and over again to...

One fine spring day a disciple looked at some branches blowing in the wind. He asked his master, “Master, are the branches moving or is it the wind?” Not even glancing to where his pupil was pointing, the master smiled and said, “That which moves is neither the branches nor the wind. It is your heart and mind.”

Every inch of me shall perish. Every inch, but one. An inch. It is small, it is fragile, and it is the only thing in the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away. We must never let anyone take it from us. “No calamity befalls on Earth or in yourselves but it is inscribed in the Book of Decrees before We bring it into existence.” (57:22) The pens have dried, the ink has run out, and the pages have been lifted. Imam Muslim narrated from Umm Salamah that the Prophet (S) said: If any Muslim who suffers some calamity says that which Allah has commended him: “We belong to Allah and to Him shall we return: Oh Allah, reward me for my affliction and give me something better in exchange for it”, Allah will give him something better than it in exchange.
