The Path To God

Transcend

Before Daybreak

If you haven’t done anything this Ramadan simply because you did not have the time, you still have one night left.

One night to change yourself, before daybreak.

The greatest way to ever ask God anything is to write down what you want, just like your very own wish list that you want to ask God to grant you.

Take some paper and a pen, sit down at night, and just think. Go to the masjid if you’d like, but you can do this anywhere. Think of what you want in your life, what you want to do that you have not done, what you want your life to look like in the next few years. Anything that comes to your mind.

Write down the person you want to become. If you want to change, it has to be now, in this moment. You pledge yourself to try and become someone better.

Understand that Ramadan, though it is almost over, is the best month of all because distractions are gone. The shayateen are not here to whisper into your ear, to try and discourage you from what you want to do. This is why you ask from your heart for what you truly want.

So take some time out and try it. Subhanallah, I remember the first time I did this was two years ago, in Masjid Al-Farouq, and the things that have happened to me since then have really come true. Some of them did not, and we understand that whatever is best happens to us, so some things were not destined for me, but I am glad because Allah had something better in store. I still have these papers, and it is amazing to look back at them and read something I had written two years ago today.

Write your du’as, read it to yourself, make sujood and ask Allah while your face is on the ground, in prostration to Him.

Pray with full conviction and without hesitation, and ask for what your heart desires. It may be that you are granted it because of His mercy.

And whatever happens to the believer is that which is best for Him.
