The Path To God

Effects of Ramadan

While I’ve always made it a point to write this every Ramadan, I almost feel it is a necessity because of the fact that people seem to not understand the impact or depth of the message.

During Ramadan, the shayateen have all been locked up and we are free from the whispers of their evil. This is what makes Ramadan the greatest time of all to do something you have wanted to do, but never had the confidence or ability to go ahead and try it.

This doesn’t have to be something Islamically related, like memorizing Qur’an (though this is an excellent choice, one that we should be doing regardless). The possibilities are endless. If you wanted to paint, draw, build something from scratch, cook, make videos, write stories, play an instrument, this is the greatest time to do it.

I remember about two years ago I had wanted to make videos for dawah on YouTube, which was mostly directed towards people who were trying to understand Islam and its principles. While I really do not think of myself as a good teacher or someone who can sit in front of a camera and talk for ten minutes, I still went through with it when Ramadan started. Though I only made maybe three or four videos, I still get comments and questions regarding them to this day in my e-mail.

While on the same note, I had wanted to make videos playing and singing a few acoustic songs on my guitar, but never really went through with it. Surprisingly I ended up doing that as well and posting some videos up on YouTube that surprisingly still get a hundred views a day or so, and this is two years later.

The point of the matter is this. During this month there is nothing to stop you from doing anything you would like to but yourself. Anything that you have been wanting to do but simply felt like it wasn’t worth it or you didn’t think you would be able to, this is the best month to start.

The only thing that can discourage you from your dreams is yourself, and this is true in life no matter time or place.
